CVS Moves All Reloadable Debit Cards Including Vanilla Reloads to Cash Only As of 4/4/14

Over the past week reports have been flying around the miles & points world of readers being told cash only for Vanilla Reloads at local CVS stores. It seemed hit and miss with some stores still accepting credit cards, but it is now confirmed that as of Friday 4/4/14 the entire CVS chain will switch to a cash only policy.

This cash only policy not only applies to Vanilla Reload cards but to all reloadable debit cards and reload products. It appears this has been implemented already at many stores nationwide but per a memo sent out to all store managers, the final stores will have switched to cash only by 4/4.

If you need to buy some Vanilla Reloads to feed your Bluebird, I would highly suggest hitting up your local CVS if they haven’t switched already.

Yes bloggers like yourself killed this. No question about it. I was on a plane on 3/30 and there was some dumb, fat, old woman telling to other random strangers how she read the travel blogs and has been racking up frequent flyer miles using the tips they supplied. She said she never would have been able to figure it out if it weren’t for you bloggers. You just collect the credit card signs ups so what do you care…

I think a more likely reason for CVS policy change is the recent $500,000 fraud case using Vanilla reload cards from CVS. Check it out: http://oceancity.patch.com/groups/politics-and-elections/p/men-charged-with-credit-card-fraud-following-arrest-at-borgata-in-atlantic-city
