American Airlines is once again offering up award seats to Hawaii at a reduced rate. Currently you can book award flights for as little 15,000 miles each way or 30,000 round trip. Normal off-peak awards run at 17,500 for one way or 35,000 rt so you are looking at saving 5,000 miles!
As MommyPoints notes, you can further reduce the cost by having one of several Aadvantage cards from Citi that offer a 10% rebate on miles redeemed up to 10,000 miles back per year! So if you get an Aadvantage card and get in on this deal you are looking at Hawaii round-trip for only 27,000 miles per person!! You cannot beat that!
American does tend to offer discounted redemption’s to Hawaii once or twice a year, but with this being the off-peak season, you aren’t likely to find a better deal by waiting. Last April they ran an offer for 5,000 off a round-trip resulting in a 40k round trip redemption for peak season.
Remember, if you can’t find availability from your home airport consider broadening your search to another nearby airport.
