These last several months have been all over the board with Amex pulling out of all shopping portals back in September. That was only temporary as American Express once again returned to most shopping portals at the start of October. Cash back rates since then have been up and down with several one-day sales but overall they have been averaging lower than previously. Amex gift cards have also become harder to liquidate with many online gift card sites blocking the use of Amex gift cards to purchase Visa gift cards. But for many this has still remained a staple in their manufactured spending arsenal.
I just received some bad news from a friend on the inside. It appears as if American Express is once again pulling the plug on shopping portal rebates from the purchase of Amex gift cards. This will be effective starting Saturday, December 20th. So if you planned on using this method to generate some spending on your accounts you had better act fast. Tomorrow will be the last day to earn cash back on American Express gift cards.
