Chase currently is running an in-branch promotion on the Ink Plus card offering a bonus of 70,000 points! That is 40% higher than the standard offer for this card of 50,000 bonus miles. Like the standard offer, this offer requires you to spend $5,000 within the first 3 months of account opening.
There is one key difference between this offer and the normal 50,000 point offers that you need to be aware of. The $95 annual fee is NOT waived the first year with this 70,000 point offer. So you are essentially buying an extra 20,000 points for $95 or 0.475 cents per point. At a an absolute minimum Ultimate Rewards points would be worth 1 cent per point if redeemed just for cash back. Use them to transfer to partners and you should be able to get a far better value than that.
This appears to only be available in the branch locations and not available online. However, if you have recently opened up an Ink Plus account within the last 90 days you may be able to get matched to the new higher offer. All you need to do is log into your Chase account online and click on the Secure Message Center > Send New Message, you can send a quick request to Chase to apply the new higher offer to your existing account. There is no guarantee but Chase is usually very good about matching new offers.
If you took advantage of the 60,000 point special offer back in May you should be within 90 days still but you aren’t getting near as good of a return on your $95 as you are buying points at 0.95 cents per point. I would never buy points at that price but it may be worth it for you depending on how you intend to use your points.
