Back in March, Chase re-branded the IHG Rewards Club from a Visa Signature card to a World MasterCard product. This made for an opportunity for those who have had the Visa version in the past. As this is now considered a new card product you should be able to get the sign-up bonus on the MasterCard version as well!
I currently have the IHG Rewards Club card and was hoping to cash in on this product change by canceling my Visa version and applying for the new MasterCard version. But unfortunately I was little slow on the draw and before I knew it I had received a letter in the mail stating my Visa had been converted and I should receive the MasterCard shortly. By this point it was a little too late as I was technically already being converted to the MasterCard. 🙁
But for those of us who didn’t have a chance to apply for the MasterCard version before being converted we are not completely left high and dry. Along with your replacement IHG Rewards Club MasterCard there should have been a flyer offering you an incentive to start using the new card. The offer was sent with all the new cards awarding 1,000 bonus IHG Rewards Club points after your first purchase with the new MasterCard.
No registration required but you must use your new card at least one time before the deadline of June 15, 2014 in order to receive your bonus points. The offer states to allow 6 to 8 weeks for the bonus to post to your account however my 1,000 points posted on my very first new statement following my first use of the new card. This is an easy 1,000 points so do not forget to use your new card before the deadline!
If you have previously held the Visa version but do not currently have the MasterCard version you may be able to take advantage of a new sign up bonus now. There is an offer for 80,000 bonus points offer however there is no landing page discussing the offer. But there are many successful reports of receiving 80,000 points through this link which you can read about on Flyertalk.
